Crude Prices Up, Financials Lead S&P Higher

Final University of Michigan consumer sentiment in April fell from 63.2 in the preliminary reading to 62.6, below the forecast of 63.2 and the lowest reading since 1982. Details from Bloomberg...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 43 points (0.3%) to close at 12,892, the S&P 500 Index gained 9 points (0.6%) to 1,398, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 6 points (0.2%) to 2,423. Crude oil finished up $2.46 to $118.52 per barrel, and gold ended up $1.00 at $887.80 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA closed 0.3% higher, the S&P 500 Index increased 0.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.8%.
