The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 43 points (0.3%) to close at 12,763, the S&P 500 Index advanced 4 points (0.3%) to 1,380, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 28 points (1.2%) to 2,405. Crude oil rose $0.23 to $118.30 per barrel, and gold ended down $17.40 at $904.90 per ounce.
