April Retail Sales Down 0.2%

Retail sales fell 0.2% in April, matching forecasts. Ex-transportation, sales increased 0.5% and beat the consensus forecast of a 0.2% rise. More from Bloomberg...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 44 points (0.3%) to close at 12, 832, the S&P 500 Index was nearly unchanged at 1,403, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 7 points (0.3%) to 2,495. Crude oil rose $1.57 to $125.80 per barrel, and gold ended down $19.00 at $865.90 per ounce.
