The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 69 points (0.6%) to close at 12,548, the S&P 500 Index advanced 9 points (0.7%) to 1,385, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 37 points (1.5%) to 2,481. Crude oil dropped $3.34 to $128.85 per barrel, and gold ended down $20.90 at $904.90 per ounce.
