Wall Street tumbled Wednesday as investors grappled with renewed worries about the soundness of the financial sector. The major indexes fell more than 2 percent, including the Dow Jones industrial average, which lost more than 230 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 237 points (2.1%) to close at 11,147, the S&P 500 Index lost 29 points (2.3%) to 1,245, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 60 points (2.6%) to 2,235. Crude oil rose $0.01 to $136.05 per barrel, and gold increased $6.00 to $929.30 per ounce.
