The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 83 points (0.7%) to close at 11,616, the S&P 500 Index advanced 7 points (0.6%) at 1,293, and the Nasdaq Composite finished 25 points (1.0%) higher at 2,454. Crude oil fell $0.99 to $115.01 per barrel, and gold dropped $19.80 at $806.10 per ounce.
