The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 140 points (1.2%) to close at 11,642, the S&P 500 Index fell 16 points (1.2%) at 1,290, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 9 points (0.4%) to 2,431. Crude oil fell $1.44 to $113.01 per barrel, and gold lost $5.10 at $817.70 per ounce.
