Stocks Close Higher On Rate-Cut Optimism

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 248 points (2.9%) to close at 8,944, the S&P 500 Index rose 26 points (2.9%) to 931, while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 39 points (2.4%) to 1,647. Crude oil rose $0.27 to $61.04 per barrel, and gold ended up $4.70 at $736.90 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA fell 4.1%, the S&P 500 Index was down 3.9%, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 4.3%.
