The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 247 points (2.9%) to close at 8,727, the S&P 500 Index was up 30 points (3.5%) to 888, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 67 points (4.6%) to 1,532. Crude oil rose $3.67 to $54.44 per barrel, and gold ended down $3.70 at $814.80 per ounce.
