The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 186 points (2.3%) to close at 7,790, the S&P 500 Index lost 20 points (2.4%) to 816, and the Nasdaq Composite decreased 45 points (2.8%) to 1,561. Crude oil fell $1.90 to $49.15 per barrel, and gold gained $13.56 to $882.46 per ounce.
