Consumer Sentiment Gains

Preliminary University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index improved again, rising from 68.7 in May to 69.0 in June, but that was below the forecast, which called for an increase to 69.5. The index sits at the highest level in nine months. More from Bloomberg...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 28 points (0.3%) to close at 8,799, the S&P 500 Index gained 1 point (0.1%) to 946, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 4 points (0.2%) to 1,859. Crude oil lost $0.64 to $72.04 per barrel, and gold lost $15.03 to $938.92 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA gained 0.4%, the S&P 500 Index rose 0.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.5%.
