The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 19 points (0.2%) to close at 8,741, the S&P 500 Index advanced 2 points (0.2%) to 945, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 8 points (0.4%) to 1,837. Crude oil fell $0.03 to $68.55 per barrel, and gold increased $6.38 to $981.65 per ounce.
