The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 80 points (0.8%) to close at 9,627, the S&P 500 Index increased 11 points (1.0%) to finish at 1,044, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 24 points (1.2%) to 2,084. Crude oil rose $0.56 to $71.96 per barrel, and the Bloomberg gold spot price gained $3.10 to $995.40 per ounce.
