Major Indices Close Mixed

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 22 points (0.2%) to close at 14,044, the S&P 500 Index lost 5 points (0.3%) to 1,553, while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 7 points (0.3%) to 2,787. Crude oil dropped $2.20 to $79.02 per barrel, and gold ended down $8.50 at $732.80 per ounce.
