U.S. Stocks Plunge On Economic Pessimism

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 367 points (2.6%) to close at 13,522 the S&P 500 Index declined 39 points (2.6%) to 1,500, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 74 points (2.7%) to 2,725. Crude oil declined $0.87 to $88.60 per barrel, and gold ended up $1.50 at $770.20 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA gave up 4.1%, the S&P 500 Index lost 3.9%, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.9%.
