The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 182 points (1.4%) to close at 12,981, the S&P 500 Index rose 24 points (1.7%) to 1,441, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 34 points (1.3%) to 2,597. Crude oil increased $0.46 to $97.75 per barrel, and gold ended up $24.10 at $824.70 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA closed 1.5% lower, the S&P 500 Index fell 1.2%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.5%.
