Stocks Fall On Persistent Credit & Housing Woes

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 173 points (1.3%) to close at 13,167, the S&P 500 Index declined 22 points (1.5%) to 1,446, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 61 points (2.3%) to 2,574. Crude oil finished down $0.57 to $90.69 per barrel, and gold ended $0.50 higher at $793.80 per ounce.
