The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 257 points (2.0%) to close at 12,800, the S&P 500 Index lost 36 points (2.5%) to 1,412, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 98 points (3.8%) to 2,505. Crude oil fell $1.27 to $97.91 per barrel, and gold ended down $6.10 at $860.30 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA closed 4.2% lower, the S&P 500 Index dropped 4.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 6.3%.
