The Philly Fed’s Business Activity Index rose from -12.7 in August to 3.8 in September, the best reading since November 2007 and easily beating the estimate -10.0. New orders improved, while pricing pressures remain elevated but eased considerably.
The Leading Index followed up August’s 0.7% decline with a drop of 0.5%, worse than the forecast of -0.2%.
