Stocks Finish Lower After Volatile Week

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 171 points (1.4%) to close at 12,207, the S&P 500 Index lost 21 points (1.6%) to 1,331, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 35 points (1.5%) to 2,326. Crude oil rose $1.30 to $90.71 per barrel, and gold ended up $7.70 at $913.50 per ounce. For the week, the DJIA closed 0.9% higher, the S&P 500 Index gained 0.4%, while the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.6%.
