February Consumer Price Index Unchanged

The Labor Department reported that the Consumer Price Index was unchanged in February, better than the estimate of a 0.3% increase, while the core rate of inflation, which excludes food and energy, also remained unchanged. The forecast for the core rate was an 0.2% rise.

Preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment for March fell slightly to 70.5 from 70.8 in February, better than the estimate of a drop to 69.3.
